Not exactly relaxing
but definitely playful, due to the rhythm. However, I definitely have to listen to the old version after hearing this!

Not enough variety and dynamics
It sounds as if each note is playing at the same strength. Furthermore, the drum beat doesn't change one bit throughout. I do understand that the piano is carrying the rhythm too, but then the problem of repetition comes up again. However, this is a good foundation though. You have a lot of room to build up from this and turn this into an excellent song.
Nice dude, very creative synths
Wow, this is pretty hard to review. I think it's been too long since I've sat down and reviewed something outside of my usual genres.
Synths: 10/10. Very creative, especially the effect near :28, which served as an excellent transition into the next section. I will say, I'm quite proud of your kick and hard noise too.
Melody and Harmony: 8/10. In the second half of the song, I can get into the melody, especially since the chord progression at 1:45 is one of my favorite types and the synth melody accompanying it fits perfectly, with the saw wave enhancing it further. I think you could have put a bit more variety in the melody though.
Drums: 10/10. Hard hitting, everything perfectly mixed, just perfect. The cymbals come in at the perfect time, and the snares and hihats
Rhythm: 9/10. I love how you effortlessly switched between 4/4 and 6/4 time twice, although it isn't as clean the first time (more on that in the unity section).
Variety: 7/10. This may be more of my own personal preference influencing this though, since I personally have a hard time repeating a melody more than twice in my songs, so I like as much variety as possible. The beginning is fine, in my view, but the middle sections like :32-57 and 1:45-2:37 could definitely benefit from a bit more variety, especially since 2:10-37 is a repeat of :32-57.
Unity: 8/10. Although the flow between the sections is pretty nice (more on that below), the difference between the section at :32-57 and the section following is a bit too "different", especially since it's in a different time signature.
Flow: 9/10. Excellent transitions between sections throughout, except at the aforementioned :57 point, when the time signature changes and new synths come into play. And even that's not a "bad" transition, even though it could be a bit better. Personally, when doing a transition like that, I'd start leading into it in the last measure before the change-over happens, like introducing one of the synths that's going to play in the next section at that point.
Beginning and Ending: 10/10. In my view, not much needs to be changed about the end. I honestly can't think of a way to improve it, and a voice at the end might actually hurt it. But you could put a soft voice or whispering voice at the end and have the "wind" fade out after it's done talking. Both are pretty much perfect though.
Overall, 9/10 5/5.
1 thing: You still do those piano dnb songs? Those were awesome.
1 more thing: I'd download your album, but I'm currently poor and really don't have anything to contribute more than a few bucks, and I'd like to be able to actually pay you when I do download the album.
surprised you noticed the 4/4 to 6/4 switch, most people dont even catch it
the album is free dude, well its name your own price, but free is fine with me
i dont do specifically piano dnb anymore, its more of a mix between piano, soft synths and fucking crazy ass drums, idk i may give piano dnb a try sometime soon
Not much I can say about this except
Pure freaking gold.
Well, there is one thing I can say about this: Maybe the guitars could be a tad bit louder. Not that much louder, but just a slight bit louder. But I'm not a metal expert, so I'm not sure exactly what the volume on the guitars should be.
Also, I would recommend a little intro into the section that starts at 3:34 since it seems a bit sudden with how slow the preceding section is.
Other than that, the melodies are amazingly creative, the harmonies equally so, the drums excellent, and the instruments absolutely perfect.
Nice combination of orchestral and metal! This is personally what I was shooting for when I did my own orchestral metal piece a short while ago, but you've got it down much better than I could ever hope for.
10/10 5/5 Thanks for uploading this, I thoroughly enjoyed this.
(BTW, was this a good review? I'm not sober at all right now, so I can't really tell.)
Yea, good review bud! Lul!
Always good to get a response from great composers such as yourself. :-)
Thanks for the feedback. It's much appreciated as always!

Every time I check out one of your songs....
I'm blown away by the sheer creativity and skill. Literally, the only issue is that you might want to improve the dynamics a bit. Other than that, this song is unbelievably unnerving! 10/10!
Glad you like it! My original thought behind it was that I got annoyed of everyone all over YouTube insisting that One Winged Angel was the alpha and omega of all boss themes everywhere, so I decided to try and emulate its "epicness" by creating a ridiculous, off-the-chain opus in its image. I didn't quite get there, but I'm still proud of what I got out of my time spent on it.
Very creative
The dynamics really shine in this piece.
For a person who doesn't do orchestral, this is excellent. Your song fits the scenario perfectly, from the instruments to the melody.
There is nothing bad I can say about this song. Your use of the background instruments is flawless. Barely audible, and that's perfect. The pizzicato and their melodies? Perfect. The Strings? Smooth and beautiful. The flute? Excellent. A solid piece all around.
10/10 5/5 dl'ed. Good luck in the contest!
(meant to drop this review earlier, but got tired after doing quite a few before.)
It appears you've hit your mark
You've definitely channelled Tim Burton for sure.
Overall, this song is excellent, the melodies are interesting and unique, while your side melodies fit right in.
The only bad thing I could say about this entire song is the brass hits at the beginning, which kinda seem out of place imo, even when the main section comes in afterwards.
Other than that, a solid piece. 9/10 5/5.
This could be the main theme for Starship Troopers
The beginning is so unnerving, it has you looking around trying to make sure everything is order. When it gets into the main song, one of the main things that hits me is how much variation you put into the melody while still keeping it completely unified. That is the sign of a true professional imo.
I'll DEFINITELY be downloading this song, I need to study this. In fact, I think I'll be downloading every song that was submitted to the contest, as they all have something I need to learn. 10/10 5/5
Excellent
It's rare that I hear a song that just makes me want to smile! This sounds plain great. You've really found a great way to use all those instruments, and each one lends itself to another, as well as the overall melody, which is pure awesome.
Your melodies are great, your harmonies are amazing, your use of instruments is amazing, your rhythm is great, there is nothing bad I can say about this song.
Good luck in the contest! 10/10 5/5
"long and hard" lol
Okay, time to be serious and stop channelling Peter Griffin.
Epic. Pure epic. I love the variations throughout, and each portion fits neatly into the song, contributing to a collage of emotions yet remaining unified throughout.
When you wanted to make it powerful, oh god was it powerful. When you wanted to make it expressive, oh hell yes it was expressive. This piece is great all around.
10/10 5/5 and good luck on the contest!
If you ever wanted to make high-quality music with low quality inexpensive shit, I'm the man to ask ;-)
