Very ambient.
Very peaceful song, but not in an RnB type peaceful. I mean a pure ambient type of peaceful. It would be very difficult to rap on this though, because honestly, lyrics would only ruin the beat.
My only suggestion is that you add a little more variation to the drum sequence.

It's definitely a demo.
What I would recommend to you is that you turn the synths down. It's overwhelming everything else. And that weird brass-sounding instrument definitely should not come in at all when those synths are playing because it has no melodic resonance with either synths.
Another lesser problem is the chord progression. There's something that I don't like about it, but I can't put my finger on it.
Not too bad though, it sounds like a great beat to rap to. I hope the finished copy turns out as great as I think it will.

Imma actually do an actual critical review.
1) Bad choice of drums and drumbeat if you want to do classical. It ends up sounding more hiphop than classical. The drums need more reverb too. Instead of using a kick, you probably should have went with a tom if you lack a good orchestral drum set.
2) I don't like the flute melody. There's something about it that just doesn't match up for me. Maybe it's the way it clashes with the chords.
3) Sounds too basic for me, in terms of this being a classical piece. Classical is one of the hardest genres to compose. Trust me, I've done a few classical pieces. There's just a little too much looping for my tastes. Not varied enough. And that contributes to the hiphop feel of this song.
But it's not bad for a second attempt. The theme is good, the instrument choice contributes well to the theme, and the dynamics are okay.
And if you have any more classical pieces, let me know.

A few things....
1) it sounds too, well, basic. I know rap beats aren't the best form of music in the world, but I would strive for something great, not just something that someone can possibly rap to. Right now, this is a good beat only because it kinda lays down for the lyrics and it's easy to rap to. You want something that will make people say "whoa that's a hot rap beat, who made that" even when there's lyrics on it.
2) All the synths sound similar because they all have some form of distortion on them. I think the distortion needs to be taken off a few. Furthermore, the melody overwhelms the drums after all the instruments come in. You can still hear it kinda though. Just turn the drums up slightly. Especially the snare, that definitely needs to be turned up. Leave the hats at the volume that they're at right now, last thing a song needs is very loud hi-hats.
Other than those two points, the song sounds like a good beat to rap on. It's a work in progress though, so take your time and perfect it. Btw, check out one of my three beats (one is listed in miscellaneous) and listen to how I have the drums. I recommend checking out run shit down since that's closest to your style.

I would vote on your submission myself, but seeing as you already did it for me, I guess I'll leave it alone.
Anyways, here's my review. the piano sounds a little weird. Maybe it's because it's slightly too loud, or maybe it's the way some of the notes cut off abruptly. The weird tuning does play a part in it too.
Good choice of instruments though, all the instruments fit the theme well.
BTW, what's that one instrument that plays from around :30 to past 1:00? I know that it's pizzicato something, but I don't know what exactly.
And I'm surprised you found a use for the harmon. I heard that instrument and instinctively put that in the backburner because I figured I'd never use it.

if you make a really gay song, you'll find that most ass-sounding instruments makes sense. and of course i'll fifen mah own newly submitted ass-tunes. everyone does, the ones who say othervice are most likley not people.
Unbeatable intro!
Flawless combination of orchestral and electronic in the beginning.
That one synth is kinda annoying though, the one that keeps sliding down. It's too loud and it generally detracts from the ambience of the rest of the piece.
After that, good though.
Drums are exceptional.
Control of tempo and measure is exceptional too.
Key change could have been executed much better though. It sounds just sudden.
Aside from a few little mistakes, this song is nice as hell. The ambience of this song suggests a mission. I wouldn't say it suggests a confrontation though, much less the final confrontation. It does suggest a final mission or something like that though.

That's a strong statement to say that it won't win.
First of all, excellent piano playing.
Second of all, excellent recording.
Third of all, excellent editing (for the under 8 mb thing).
It captures the euphoric part of the Mac8 perfectly.
I'm also loving the soft ambience of this piece. There isn't a thing I don't love about this song.
Also, the loop is crazy good, for a recording. It's better than most of my intentional loops.
Shit, I lose the Mac8 though cuz of this! Oh well....

I love the feeling that one get's from this song!
But turn those drums down. The person below me might not have noticed, but the drums are the reason the mixing is wierd. For starters, because the drums are so loud and the reverb is on them, not only does the drum cut down the volume of all the other instruments, but the reverb on the drum does too. Don't worry about it too much though, it's happened to me plenty of times.
Everything else about this song is perfect. Perfectly spooky. Good use of sound effects and chords. It would have been a teensy bit spookier if not for the second set of drums, the drums are just a little too fancy in that part.
This song reminds me of dark, dark grey. To be more specific, it reminds me of a desolate street corner, at twilight, when it's really really foggy. One can see only the headlights of the few cars that go by. Next to you is a graveyard. The fog is really thick there.
BTW, that response to my one thread post, the one about the kid with the techno song, was fucking hilarious. Don't even care if it was directed at me. That's the only reason I reviewed this song.

First section sounds really really peaceful. Reminds me of an open field.
That build up with the strings is mad nice.
The balance between the instruments is exceptional.
The guitar should have been replaced with a softer instrument. But not too soft. Preferably a trumpet. A euphonium or a Trombone would have fit too. The guitar just doesn't match the feeling of the other sections prior to it though.
Chords are nice as hell.
Badly abrupt ending. I would have liked a cresendo of bells or something, ya know?
Tell you what, this song has a magical element to it. Maybe it's the choice of instruments, maybe it's the chord progression, maybe... But really, get rid of that damn guitar, it's ruining the general feeling that the rest of the song projects.
Thanks for the review, but pah! I think that although this song was done in a short amount of time, and the guitar was the most rushed part, I still think it owns its place, it adds a surprise; a dynamic twist. If this song had just been a straight forward classical song then I'd agree, but what I was going for was something more unique. As for the ending I was on my way out, this was as far as I could go in the time that I had. I'll think about removing the guitar, but really that part was the basis for the whole "change" thing, i.e change of pace, change of style etc. Thanks again.
