I give this an 8 because....

aside from the fact that listening to it made me want to kill myself in several progressively ingenious and emo ways, the song did accomplish what it was supposed to do, which is emulate those god-awful loops from the older systems.

muy bien, muy bien

That's how classical is done! You can teach me a lot. I've been trying to make a slow song but I just can't seem to get it the way I want to. But you seem to be great at it. Keep it up!

Xyirx responds:

I'm really happy you've got something from this piece. I started composing slow songs just recently, so it wouldn't be that great, but I try my best. ^^

Thanks for a comment.

That was wierd, to say the least...

I didn't expect that. That was weird as hell. weird as hell. as hell. I almost felt gay listening to that song, no offense. But it was still good. Keep it up man. Not like this song, but keep composing and producing these tracks.

Blind-Bane responds:

hahaha i felt gay making it.
yeah man music for life!

It feels like you could have done more...

I think you should have continued. This thirtyfive seconds is nothing at all, although those thirty-five seconds are nice themselves. One thing that annoys me is the inconclusive ending that was placed on this song. This song gives me some inspiration though. I'm going to take the general theme of this song and build upon this like no other. I'm going to make one hell of a song based on this one. Thank you for the inspiration. I can see it now.

Blind-Bane responds:

i was just testing the new orchestra VST out, i made this in like 5 - 6 minutes.. yeah the ending is pretty inconclusive, but i really wanted to hear the cello on its own. im glad it inspired you. go for it man, and once ur done link it to me !

ehh...

1) Too bland.
2) Too much, eh how do you say it, drawn-out chord.

1) it's just not very interesting, in my view. It just is, in my view. it just is. The searing chords were actually kind of annoying, in my opinion. Try to make it a little more interesting next time. Don't just use persistent chords. The synth-sound of it didn't help either. But I'm an orchestral type of artist, so that's a personal issue, not a generally helpful tip.

2) I touched on this on #1. The chords are annoying. Really annoying. There's no staccato, no solos, no anything. No rising notes, no falling notes, no portamento, slide, panning, anything. Nothing but chord and drum. Even in an unregistered version of FL Studio 8 one can do more than this. I should know since that's all I have used for 40+ songs. But back on the chords. Those chords are just way too bland. You have to change that for the next song. And I understand that it was made for a videogame, but many videogames have more elaborate songs than that. (there are some exceptions, but we should always aspire to do better than we think we can, or at least better than that person.)

I'm trying not to sound like an asshole. I apologize if I come across as such.

Cornered-Fear responds:

Well i read your whole comment [:P] and i would like to THANK you [as much as it hurts me XD] for your tips and i will implement them into my next piece.

Thank you, CF.

Good stuff, man, good stuff!

I can't tell you what to improve on because I think it's perfecto! Even the fact that it loops alot isn't bad because you put a lot of variety everywhere else. It's funny cuz I have a song that I wanted to name The Final Assault, but I think that this song fits that song 10X better. Keep it up and don't stop!

N0VA64 responds:

thanks man! I really appreciate the positive input!

btw. i checked out some of your stuff and it's awesome.

It was worth a try.

It doesn't come across as sad or soft because there's too much lead. Leads are more for active songs and don't lead to a "soft, chill feeling" in my opinion. I think you would have been better served by a simple sine wave and/or a few samples of softer instruments. But that's just my opinion. Don't worry though, I have a hell of a hard time making sad songs also.

Shiverwar responds:

Meh, this was kind of an attempt. I think it could have been better as well. Thanks for the comment.

It's too simplistic for my tastes.

But since I'm the guy who usually creates elaborate musical projects that can take up to a week to finish, my opinion is already marred. But hey, that's just my opinion.
One question though: did you use an analog synthesizer?

TheeChrisJ responds:

I actually used two separate synthesizers. As of this moment, I don't remember which two they were, though.

I can tell......

That you use FL Studio and that you used FL Keys, Boobass, FPC and FL Slayer when making this song. As a person who's used FL studio since april of this year on about 40 songs, I know what every plugin sounds like now. Additionally, you used Simsynth in one of your other songs. I can tell because simsynth just can't seem to be very manipulable in terms of sound, I have found. It's good stuff though. Maybe I'll upload one of my first songs.

samuraiomi responds:

Your correct. I did use all those lol.

If you ever wanted to make high-quality music with low quality inexpensive shit, I'm the man to ask ;-)
